The Lady Rebels tennis team concluded their season on Oct. 23, falling to J.L. Mann in Rd. 1 of the 5A playoffs.  Despite the loss, the Lady Rebels have allot to be proud of this season.  Not only did they improve their region standings, but they made it back to the post season after missing them in 2018.  Congratulations on a turn-around season!

Girls Region II 5A Coach of the Year

Bethany Poppe is the 2019 Region II 5A Coach of the Year.  Congratulations to Poppe and her staff on such a remarkable season.  Coach Poppe led the girls back to the playoffs after missing them in 2018.

About Poppe: A former collegiate tennis athlete, Bethany Poppe is graduate of Newberry College (BA) and The University of Georgia. Poppe is in her 5th year as the girls head coach and has over 15 years of experience teaching tennis lessons.  Before coming to Byrnes, Poppe was the head middle school and assistant JV/Varsity coach at The Pingry School, and head middle school boys’ / JV girls coach at Oak Hills. In addition, Poppe is PTR certified for 11-17 year old players. The Lady Rebels qualified for the 5A State Championship next week at Mid-Carolina CC. Anika Rana lead the way with a 72.
