Sept. 1 Block B Newsletter

We are excited about our October 5th banquet/reunion. Coach Reggie Shaw and former Byrnes and Clemson great Ben Hall will be our speakers for the evening. It will be an added pleasure to have Fred Coan sing for us this night.

We will be honoring the remaining “First Rebel Seniors” football teamTommy Sutton, Barry Mitchell, Ken Brown, Mike Johnson and Ken Waddle have all been invited. Along with some very special people who preceded Byrnes High School sports.  At this date, we have Pat Bridges, Ron Allison, Bob Carlisle, and F.E. Hendrix.

Next year, we hope to find more trailblazers from other sports that were on the first Rebel teams.

Phil Davis and I had lunch with Mr. F. E Hendrix recently; it was a great experience hearing from someone that played sports in the forties. Mr. Hendrix is a special person.

I hope each of you can make it to this event. Best wishes,

Lastly, thank you for being loyal members of our Block B Athletic Alumni Club. Your $25.00 may not sound like a lot of money, However, it adds up when we work together. Please pass the word around about our Rebel pride in this Alumni Club!
